Ikhl?s is sincerity and purity in one's actions, thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. Ikhl?s signifies a presence in our hearts for nothing other than Allah (subhana wa ta'la) loves and wants. When we do good deeds including constant acts of 'Ibadah (devotional acts of worship) we forget everything else except Allah (subhana wa ta'la). The beautiful virtues of ikhl?s are reflected in the purity of our nuyyah (intentions). By establishing the regular practice of samt (silence) khalwah (retreat) and ittib? (following) we begin the journey of building the connection with Allah (subhana wa ta\'la) as taught by Rasulullah (sallallahu \'alaihi wassallam). We increase our ikhl?s and therefore our tawheed by demonstrating it in our daily actions.
